My parents were no longer around when I gave birth to a special child, one with Down Syndrome. It was difficult to seem to raise my one and only child who had special needs. I was newly divorced, and I only had a dedicated child development specialist who was always there to give professional medical and personal advices. Her expertise in the field makes her share her professional experience with us. I needed to be beside my child 100% of the time, and I chose to be a hands-on mom rather than entrust my child to a caregiver.
I read books, studied in distance learning programs offering certificate programs for care for special children and joined online forums for more ideas on caring better for my child. All I wanted to be the best mother and with the best tender loving care the world can offer. After twelve long years, I am dedicated to pass on the baton to other parents who may be newly going through the same thing that I have endured. I created a website through Wix.com, the same free online website builder I used to create my beads and accessories online store.
By knowing how to make a website , I managed to put together an online profile of my child’s journey from birth till date, with galleries and descriptions of our daily walk together. It was a great online journal on the personal side of it, and a healthy resource of do’s and don’ts as proven by medical experts and experience.
